Customs & Import Duty Notice
Important Notice:
Import Duties, Customs Fees & Recent U.S. Policy Changes
What You Need to Know Before Placing an Order:
All international orders are shipped from the United Kingdom.
Import duties and taxes
International orders may be subject to customs duties, taxes, or import fees when they arrive in the destination country. These charges are set by local customs authorities and are the responsibility of the customer. TOFE does not control these fees and cannot predict the exact amount, as it varies by country and by order value.
Couriers such as DHL may contact you directly to request payment before delivery can be completed.
DHL also confirms that duties and taxes are charged by customs in the destination country and the receiver is responsible for paying them.
United States import rules
Import rules have tightened in recent years. In 2025, the United States moved to suspend the duty free de minimis treatment for low value commercial shipments. From 29 August 2025, shipments that would previously have entered duty free under the USD 800 threshold may be subject to applicable duties and processing.
Based on recent customer feedback, many US customers report paying around $20, but this can vary.
US shipping options at checkout
To help US customers choose what works best, we offer two shipping options at checkout:
US Standard Shipping
Shipping covers transport only. Import duties and taxes are paid on arrival when requested by DHL or US customs.
US All In Shipping
Shipping includes a contribution towards US import duties and taxes. In most cases this covers the customs charges. In rare instances where duties exceed the included contribution, DHL may contact the recipient directly for the balance.
If duties are refused or unpaid
If a parcel is returned to us because import duties or taxes are refused or unpaid, the following will apply:
- Return shipping fees charged by the courier will be deducted from any refund or store credit
- Any charges billed to us in connection with the return may also be deducted
- Original shipping costs are non refundable
- Refusal to pay import duties does not constitute grounds for a full refund
Returns from outside the UK
If you are returning an item from outside the UK, please ensure the return is declared accurately and clearly marked as a return on the customs documentation where applicable. Any unexpected import charges billed to us on a return may be deducted from the refund.
For international customers, we can also offer a prepaid DHL return label for £26. This option includes DHL return shipping and is the recommended method to avoid delays and ensure the parcel is returned correctly.
How it works:
- We issue a DHL label for you to print at home
- You drop the parcel at a DHL drop off point
- We can track the return from dispatch to delivery
- Returns typically reach us within 2 to 3 working days
- Once received, your item will be inspected. If approved in line with our returns policy, your refund will be processed
If you would like to use the prepaid return label, please contact us and we will arrange it for you.
